Counseling

I am a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern who specializes in working with adults ages 18-45 who are experiencing symptoms such as depression and anxiety, especially during various transition periods of life. I will also work with individuals outside of this age range if their needs appropriately fit my treatment modalities. In our sessions, I will help guide you in a holistic way to identify problem(s), create goals, and teach you how to attend to the physical, emotional and spiritual symptoms you are experiencing in order to bring a sense of relief. Our sessions are 100% collaborative, and I will never make you talk or work on something you are not ready for.

The definition of a journey is an act of traveling from one place to another, and that is exactly what we will do.

Therapeutic Yoga

Since my Registered Yoga Teacher training program specialized in behavioral health, the type of yoga I utilize is not only to improve your physical self, but also to increase your spiritual and emotional awareness. I will prescribe specific regimens of pranayama (breathing exercises), asanas (postures), and relaxation techniques such as meditation to suit your individual needs. Medical research shows that Yoga is among the most effective complementary therapies for common ailments including depression, anxiety, insomnia and chronic pain.

I will primarily utilize yoga as a treatment modality through a one on one session, but also provide semi-private (2 individuals) and small group (up to 6 individuals) sessions to fit your financial needs. I also teaches group classes in the Tampa/Wesley Chapel area that focus on the philosophy of yoga/mindfulness and joint-freeing exercises to help people release stress and tension that is held throughout the mind and body; these classes are focused on the group as a whole, not on individual needs. Meditation

Participate in mindfulness meditation in order to help reduce destructive emotions, and facilitate emotional/behavioral coping skills. In a meditation session we will work on learning the skills of Mindful Rational Living, which is an aspect of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy where you will learn to identify activating events, beliefs, and consequences. This will lead us to be able to dispute the negative beliefs in order to create less destructive thoughts, emotions and behaviors. Mindful Rational Living, in combination with mediation, shows evidence of new neural pathways in the brain in just 8 weeks.

Nutrition

Learn how to build a foundation of nutritional knowledge to help guide your food plans, and work towards specific nutrition goals. What we eat truly affects how we are feeling physically, emotionally, and spiritually; however, how we eat can almost be even more imperative. Therefore, I believe that coaching an individual on nutrition education as the initial treatment modality can be extremely beneficial in alleviating symptoms. I will often utilize the science of Ayurveda to guide nutrition coaching sessions. Ayurveda is one of the oldest holistic healing sciences that originated in India.

In addition to individual nutrition sessions, I also provide a two part nutrition group that focuses on Nutrition for Emotional Wellness. Contact me to inquire about a group, or to schedule an individual session.


Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is the art and science of utilizing naturally extracted aromatic essences from plants to balance, harmonize and promote the health of body, mind and spirit.  It seeks to unify physiological, psychological and spiritual processes to enhance an individual’s innate healing process. The three basic ways to use essential oils are by inhalation, topical application, and internal consumption.

Aromatherapy can be incorporated into any group, semi-private or private sessions to enhance your healing process. In addition, Krista I provide the option to purchase certain essential oils for your at home use. Contact me for more information.
